Where to inquire about TOY Awards

Be part of the Angeles City’s Ten Outstanding Youth Year 2!  Nominations are now going on.  If you are 13 year-old to 25 year-old natural-born resident of Angeles City and stands out as an icon for the youth, you may just be one of the ten exemplary youth we are looking for. (Read Guidelines & Qualifications for more details.)
Nomination forms & Guidelines are available at your barangay hall, school administrator/principal, parishes or at our office.

GUIDELINES & QUALIFICATIONS

As per qualifications, the organizers wish to set the following requirements to every nomination that will be submitted:

1.  A nominee should be a natural-born resident of Angeles City, duly attested through a Certificate of Residency duly signed by the nominee’s respective Punong Barangay and attached as Attachment A in the nomination letter.

2.  A nominee should not be younger than thirteen (13) years old and should not be more than twenty five (25) years old prior to December 31, 2009.  A photocopy of the authenticated birth certificate should be attached as proof and should be marked Attachment B in the nomination letter.  A nominee’s birth certificate should indicate that he/she was born in Angeles City (and not from any other place).

3.  Any nomination (which would include the necessary forms and attachments) can be hand-carried or mailed to TOY AWARDS COMMITTEE, Liga ng mga Barangay Sa Pilipinas Angeles City Chapter, City Hall Compound, Barangay Pulung Maragul, Angeles City.

4.  A letter of intent of nomination should be written by the person wishing to nominate anyone within the categories listed below. The nomination should include reasons and justifications for the said nomination.

5.  Nomination form should be filled-out with the necessary information and should be attached as Attachment C in the nomination letter.

6.  Nominations for the TOY Awards can be filed by any of the following individuals:

  • school coordinator/administrator/principal/school president or equivalent of the mentioned positions;
  • an instructor, a guidance counselor, a mentor, or equivalent of the mentioned positions;
  • a Punong Barangay or any Barangay Kagawad (excluding the SK Chairperson acting as ex-officio member of Barangay council);
  • a noted or existing non-government organization, with an existing office and members;
  • any person that would meet the initial requirements and would wish to self-nominate oneself.

8.  An essay about the nominee should also be provided and be attached as Attachment D in the nomination letter.  The essay should not be more than one thousand (1000) words.

9.  In order for a nomination to be valid, Attachment A to D should at least be attached in the nomination letter.  Related materials and other information can also be attached (but should be properly labeled); materials such as videos, photos, and/or any materials that would further enhance the credibility of a nominee.

10.  All materials submitted automatically become property of the TOY Awards Committee.

11. First to second degree relatives of the organizers are automatically disqualified for any nomination for TOY Awards.

12.  Nominees found out to be non-resident of Angeles City for more than half of their lives (through a background check from the organizers) will be automatically disqualified likewise.

13.  The decision of the board of judges and the organizing committee is final and irrevocable and that no correspondence pertaining to such shall be entertained.

14.  The organizers reserves the right to modify, alter or amend the above stated rules and procedures or waive compliance therewith at their sole discretion, if such steps are in accordance with the purpose of the search and award scheme.

15.  Photocopies of the original documents will be sufficient, such as in submitting certificates and related credentials.

16.  Deadline for the submission of nominations will be on February 28, 2010.

17.  The TOY Awards night will be on April 12, 2010

18.  Ten Outstanding Youth (TOY) Awards for 2009 shall cover the following awards/categories:

  • OUTSTANDING YOUTH EMPOWERMENT/INSPIRATION AWARD
  • OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN SPORTS AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
  • OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN LEADERSHIP
  • OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN LITERATURE
  • OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN ACADEMICS/ EDUCATION
  • OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN THE ARTS AND CULTURE
  • OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN SOCIAL AND CIVIC REFORMS

THE 10 CATEGORIES

OUTSTANDING YOUTH EMPOWERMENT/INSPIRATION AWARD

This category recognizes an individual who, having overcome difficulties (such as issues relating to family, culture, health and/or disability) have contributed to society and served as an inspirational role model to others. The award aims to recognize excellence to inspire the Angeleño youth in meeting the challenges of diverse societies; in highlighting the youth’s responsibility in addressing economic, political and/or social issues for global cohesiveness; in helping to mobilize the youth for a strategic role in nation-building; and in stimulating creativity and realization of the youth’s full potential in society, shaping their lives according to their own aspirations.

OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN SPORTS AND RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES

This recognition aims to salute the recipient who does not only have had exemplary athletic skills and recognitions but also possesses positive character traits that will surely serve him/her throughout his/her lifetime. It also aspires to bestow appreciation to an individual whose extensive involvement in sport or recreational activities has benefited others and the community.

OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN LEADERSHIP

The citation recognizes an individual who has demonstrated exemplary leadership and made significant achievements in his/her community and/or barangay or school, and thereby made a noteworthy contribution in his/her immediate environment; a young leader who made innovations in programs and/or practices; someone who established outstanding partnership and delivered improved outcomes for the youth that developed and implemented a shared vision for the future.

OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN LITERATURE

Covering a wide parameter in terms of qualifications, any nominee for this said recognition should be marked with the bearing of literary excellence, interest in the arts and related fields, and other matters concerning youth empowerment through print media and literature.

OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN ACADEMICS/ EDUCATION

The recipient of this award is an individual who has superior academic performance entwined in responsible leadership and active participation in worthwhile extra-curricular activities.  An Angeleño youth who possesses a deep sense of community awareness and is a good role model selected from his immediate environment.

OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN THE ARTS AND CULTURE

As the city has been a true example of our Country’s rich cultural heritage, this award wishes to confer appreciation to its recipient whose notable volunteering time with local artistic and cultural activities supported the preservation of the City’s rich cultural heritage and of the Filipino’s renowned traits and talents; an individual who inspires and encourages others to be physically active through personal examples, achievements, and leadership.

OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN SOCIAL AND CIVIC REFORMS

The category aims to highlight an Angeleño youth that has shown an outstanding dedication towards people in the community; a youth that had inspired and empowered others to add value and participation on their lives; someone who supports young people to make informed choices about opportunities available to them; someone who plans his/her involvement; someone who enjoys a range of experiences and reflects such experiences through positive changes in his/her community.

OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN ECO-ENVIRONMENTAL PRESERVATION

This category recognizes an individual who had shown leadership and commitment in improving the environment and surroundings; a person who possesses increased community understanding of environmental issues or innovations and influencing people’s behavior, and acts out to take greater responsibility in improving their community environment.

OUTSTANDING SANGGUNIANG KABATAAN

The distinction is set to be awarded to an Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Official (SK chairperson and SK Kagawad) who made remarkable contributions to his/her barangay, extending legendary service not only to his fellow youth but also to the entire constituency in his/her barangay; a leader in his capacity to be an agent of change in his own community, which is effectively and efficiently being established.

OUTSTANDING YOUTH IN PUBLIC SERVICE

This award will be granted to a nominee that has shown an outstanding dedication towards others in the community, and that inspired and/or empowered others to add value and participation in their community lives; a youth who knows how to address a pressing issue or a need in his/her community and facilitates the spirit of volunteerism and charity to create a more united and stronger society.

The organizers’ recognition of the fact that the youth are our most valuable resource envision that the Angeles City’s Ten Outstanding (TOY) Awards is not just an awards program but also an instrument that also focuses on community building.

It strives to promote excellence and service as a way of life through the TOY Awards’ awardees and finalists who come from the various barangays of the City. With this, a shared understanding and commitment towards the objective of building a better quality of life, anchored on good moral values, and in the capacity of the Angeleño youth to be an agent of change in his own community, is effectively and efficiently established.
